Jazzy Bossas, sambas, choros and a little African Highlife!

As a jazz pianist, Jeff has worked with many American jazz legends including: Freddie Hubbard, David Fathead Newman, Marlena Shaw, Eddie Harris, Richie Cole, Dakota Staton, and Clark Terry. He is heard regularly with many groups, including the Ken Walker Sextet.As a recording artist Jeff’s ‘07 release “Cique” received high acclaim, including being selected as one of the ten top jazz CD’s in the Boston Globe. He has three solo releases on American Gramaphone Records, and has appeared on dozens of CD’s as a sideman.

He currently teaches at the University of Colorado at Boulder and for the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. He is co-owner of successful Denver based recording studio - Mile High Music.

Challenge Aspen welcomes the U.S. Adaptive Ski Team and national adaptive ski teams from 13 countries to Buttermilk Mountain this March for the prestigious International Paralympic Committee 2010 Alpine World Cup finals, presented by U.S. Paralympics. Some 130 athletes and 50 coaches are expected to attend.

The races will take place March 2-5, 2010, with training beforehand. Athletes will compete in two downhills, one super combined and one super G, all of which will be World Cup events sanctioned by the USSA, FIS and International Paralympic Committee. The three categories of racers include sitting, standing and visually impaired.

Daily awards ceremonies will take place after each day’s competition for the top three athletes in each category. In addition, the Nations Cup Award will be presented to the country with the most World Cup points for the 2009-10 season, and World Cup Overall Titles will be awarded to one athlete in each category for downhill, super combined and super G.

“We’re very excited to bring the adaptive World Cup back to the Roaring Fork Valley and to host the world’s best athletes with disabilities,” says Kevin Jardine, director of competition for Challenge Aspen. “It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such a prestigious event, which caps off the World Cup season. The Aspen community is fortunate to be able to see these athletes in the final races before they compete in the Paralympic Winter Games.”

Following the Aspen races, the World Cup racers will move on to Whistler, British Columbia, for the Paralympic Winter Games, March 13-21, 2010.

Radney Foster will be stopping by the Two Old Hippies store on Friday, February 19th at 5:30PM to meet with his fans before his show at the Wheeler Opera House. The show with Guy Clark begins at 7:30PM.
