Date | Saturday December 26th

Time | Doors 9PM, Show 10PM

An electric and acoustic blend of roots rock and soul.  Oates is best know as half of the rock and soul duo Hall & Oates.

John Oates was destined to be a musician. Singing from the time he could talk and playing the guitar since the age of five, his calling in life was never in question.  Born in New York City, his family moved to a small town outside of Philadelphia, PA in the early 50’s - a move that would change the course of his life.  Like most kids at that time, the impact of the early days of rock left a lasting impression on John.  At the age of four he witnessed his first live concert: Bill Haley and the Comets playing their classic rockabilly hits at a local amusement park. then there were the records…

he began to collect 45 tpm singles - treasures from Little Richard, Chuck Berry, the Everely brothers, Gary US Bonds, and of course, Elvis.  He spent coutless hours twisting the dial on his AM transistor radio trying to tune in the local R&B stations and listening to DJs like Jerry Blavat spinning obscure Do Wop records.

B.B. King @ Belly Up Aspen

Date | Monday December 28th

Time | Doors 9PM, Show 10PM

A Grammy-Award winning blues guitarist and singer-songwriter known for his expressive singing and guitar playing. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at #3 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

His reign as King of the Blues has been as long as that of any monarch on earth.  Yet B.B. King continues to wear his crown well. At age 80, he is still light on his feet, singing and playing the blues with relentless passion.  Time has no apparent effect on B.B., other than to make him more popular, more cherished, more relevant than ever.  Don?t look for him in some kind of semi-retirement; look for him out on the road, playing for people, popping up in a myriad of T.V. commercials, or laying down tracks for his next album.  B.B. King is as alive as the music he plays, and a grateful world can?t get enough of him.

Today Aspen's Wheeler Opera House is home to a variety of movies, lectures, concerts, and festivals-including the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival each June. Recently, big names such as The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Jerry Seinfeld, and Oprah have entertained on the historic stage. The theater was the talk of the mining town when it opened in 1889, complete with rich Moroccan leather seats, a deep blue ceiling studded with silver stars, and a breathtaking chandelier. But then it endured tough times, including a shutdown after the 1893 silver market crash and a string of 1912 fires that left it abandoned and near ruins. After Aspen's revival, the renovated opera house opened again in 1984-and has been a premier entertainment venue ever since.
